Lightweight, affordable aircraft and advanced camera technologies have allowed many

organisations to deploy aircraft for a wide variety of reconnaissance and monitoring

objectives.

However, information technology constraints and cost considerations mean that

this valuable data is stored in the form of analogue video tapes. Apart from a security risk,

the information is difficult to identify and retrieve, and in most cases is therefore not used or

leveraged.

Massive advances in technology, accompanied by large falls in cost, over the past six

months, now mean that this information can be affordably digitised, stored and retrieved in a

flexible manner.
